Raipur: Chhattisgarh police have arrested a 36-year-old house maid in connection with stealing of cash and ornaments to the tune of Rs 10.80 lakh reported in Risali area of the steel city Bhilai in Durg district of Chhattisgarh.
According to police, the accused woman house help has identified as Lata Bai (36), resident of Telegu Para comes under Newai police station limits of Durg district.
On June this year, Anil Soni lodged complaint with Newai police station related to stealing of cash, ornaments and other valuables under section 454 and 380 of IOPC and started investigation.
Based on technical analysis of CCTV footages, police detained the accused maid and interrogated her. The accused woman confessed her involvement in theft of cash, ornaments and other valuables from the house of her employer one Anil Soni in Risali area.
Police have recovered cash amount of 8.11 lakh cash, gold ornaments of Rs 1.92 lakh, silver ornaments of Rs 46,000 and garments worth Rs 20,000 and a mobile phone of Rs 15,000 from the possession of the accused woman house help. Further investigation into the case is underway.
