Hyderabad: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) made themselves an important part of cricket history when they won the Indian Premier League title for a second consecutive time after overcoming the Gujarati Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium. By doing so, RCB became only the third franchise in the history of IPL to achieve such an incredible feat. Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians have achieved the feat before RCB.

Having a target of just 156 to win the game, Royal Challengers Bengaluru had an easy task in front of them. Virat Kohli played one of the best knockouts of his life to help the team cross the finishing line in style. Kohli showed everyone what he is capable of by scoring the fastest fifty ever scored by him in the IPL series.

There was always something in store during the game for viewers. In the last few overs of the match, things went haywire for the Bengaluru team. Premier Gujarat spin bowler Rashid Khan sent two important batters packing and created chaos among Bengaluru players.

However, in stark contrast to their predecessors, this incarnation demonstrated the cold resolve of real winners. Choosing not to buckle under any pressure, the middle order steadied the ship, batted cautiously through the remainder of Khan’s overs, and finally smashed hard at the end.

RCB won the game comfortably ahead of schedule, resulting in jubilation in the field and throughout India. By successfully retaining their title on home ground, Bengaluru has truly ushered in an age of dominance. As far as the Gujarati Titans go, it was an admirable effort that fell just short to the champions of destiny, backed by a magnificent innings by Kohli.
