The White House on Tuesday, 16 August, announced that the United States First lady Jill Biden has tested positive for COVID-19. It also stated that she has ‘mild symptoms’. The news came two weeks after her husband Prez Biden contracted the virus for the second time.
Elizabeth Alexander, Communications Director for the First Lady’ confirmed the news through Twitter.
“She is currently staying at a private residence in South Carolina and will return home after she receives two consecutive negative COVID tests,” Alexander added. The lady is said to have been presenting cold-like symptoms late in the evening and resulted positive during her regular testing cadence. She is being administered the antiviral pill Paxlovid, Alexander further said.
It is being learnt that the First lady is double vaccinated and is being given the antiviral pill Paxlovid. However, Prez Biden has recently recovered from two separate bouts of the virus.
