Senior Congress leader, Kannada former minister, B Ramanath Rai sustained injuries in a road accident at Sanur Junction on Karkala-Moodbidari road in Karnataka on Sunday.
The accident happened while the SUV carrying Rai was en-route to Moodbidri from Karkala in the presence of the private bus. The crash tore apart big part of the front of the SUV, leaving Rai inside the car.
The people who lived nearby rushed to the scene of the crash and assisted in the rescue of Rai, from the damaged SUV. He was then rushed to the nearby hospital for treatment. There were also several other persons inside the vehicles who sustained themselves injuries.
Rai was accompanied by his private company and security guard, reports say. His personal assistant suffered an injury on his leg and was taken to a hospital in Karkala and then handed over for further treatment in Mangaluru. There were no reports of any life threatening injuries or deaths in the accident, police sources said.
The accident happened in village Sanur, Karkala police station. Policymans arrived on the scene and started to gather the details of the car accident.
The incident has been investigated and authorities are still searching for information on the events surrounding the crash of the SUV and the private bus on the highway. More information on the injuries suffered will be released as doctors assess further.
The accident has happened at the Karkala-Moodbidari route while the former minister and a senior Congress leader from Karnataka was on board the cab.
