At least two died and five others were injured in a shooting at a food festival in Seattle, United States. However, there is no information If the police has detained the suspect from last shooting at the Seattle Center. Issuing a warning the Seattle Police Department said in a post on X, “Police are investigating a shooting. Multiple shooting victims. Shots fired at the Seattle Center. More information to come. Please avoid the area.”
According to people in the know, the gunshots were heard at around 6 p.m. local time at the Seattle Center during the Bite of the Seattle Festival. Victim’s have been reportedly transported to Harborview Medical Center. Hundreds of local vendors and live music performances were present when the shooting took place.
A video of the incident has been circulating on social media showing the moment shots were heard in the busy arena and chaos that followed. Eyewitnesses told at least seven to eight shots were heard inside the venue, adding that people were running everywhere. Another attendee told media reporters that the event was so packed to begin with that people could barely move between the crowded lines for food.
The annual festival first took place in 1982. It draws more than 350,000 attendees over the duration of three days, where food, drink, and community celebrations are hosted. Seattle Center recorded 282,000 attendees last year.
