The Bihar policeman who fired shots from AK 47 at students protesting in Siwan has been suspended said Siwan SP at a press briefing on Monday. Acknowledging that ariel firing was carried out, the Bihar police headquarters initiated the order. The video of the cop targetting students was circulating on the social media. They added that a detailed departmental probe is underway and further action will be taken based on the investigation.

Meanwhile, the LoP saw a chance to attack the Modi government. Rahul Gandhi on Monday struck a fresh attack on the centre alleging that the ‘entire system is downright deadly against students’.

His remarks come a day after the Bihar police acknowledged ‘aerial firing on students protesting for NEET paper leak’. He said, “News is coming in that AK-47 bullets have been fired at protesting students in Bihar, and hundreds of students have been arrested with FIRs being filed against them.”

Refering to the July 20 clashes at Jantar Mantar, Rahul Gandhi alleged ,” In Delhi, pellet guns were fired at students, and in Bihar, AK-47s. Whether its UP, West Bengal, Bihar or Delhi- the pattern is same everywhere.”

Three students along with several police personnel sustained bullet injuries on Saturday in Bihar’s Siwan district as students held a statewide bandh over the NEET paper leak.

Situation turned violent as the student led protest escalated into clashes between the demonstrators and police personnel, leading to a lathi charge, stone pelting and conflicting claims over the use of force. Large number of students gathered in the city and marched towtds Gandhi Maidan as a part of statewide shurdown.
