Union Education minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned from his post. Taking to X formerly known as Twitter, Pradhan confirmed his resignation. The departure comes amidst the demands of CJP protestors at Jantar Mantar. A segment of the post confirmed the resignation- “I have submitted my resignation to the Honorable Prime Minister.I express my heartfelt gratitude to the Honorable Prime Minister for his guidance, trust, and continuous support. I also thank my respected colleagues in the Council of Ministers, ministry officials and staff, and all those individuals with whom I had the privilege to work.”
In a lengthy post on his social media handle, Pradhan wrote-. “My Young Friends,I have been dedicated to students, teachers, and education reform for more than four decades. It has always been my firm belief that an empowered, inclusive, and forward-looking education system forms the very foundation of a strong nation.I deeply respect the aspirations, emotions, and legitimate expectations of the country’s youth. Fulfilling the dreams of India’s young generation has been the moral resolve of our political and social life. I express my gratitude to the Honorable Prime Minister for the opportunity to serve the nation under his visionary leadership.”
Citing the irregularities in the recently conducted NEET-UG exam in May, he said,” Taking immediate cognizance of this, the Government of India handed over the investigation to the CBI, cancelled the exam, and announced a new examination date. Additionally, it was decided that from next year, this exam will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode.”.
He further went on to discuss how his administration conducted the re-exam for 20 lakh students. He said, “during this period, our primary focus was to smoothly conduct the exam for more than 20 lakh students. A ‘whole-of-government approach’ was adopted for this purpose. Along with the Government of India, state governments and particularly district administrations played a key role. Furthermore, with the cooperation of students and parents, the exam was successfully completed on June 21, 2026.”
Mentioning that resignation would not impact his reputation, he added saying, looking at the events of the last 10 days, my heart is saddened. This is not a matter of personal reputation for me.India’s youth power is the true strength of this nation.My resolve is that we will not let the nation’s youth power fall into a web of confusion.Considering the situation arising at Jantar Mantar and across the country—so that anti-national forces do not exploit it, the unity of the nation remains intact, no student’s future gets entangled in legal complexities, and our children focus their time on studying and building their careers.”
