The second day of Thalapathy Vijay’s last movie, ‘Jana Nayagan’, showed that the sales coming to the theatres dropped considerably.
The film had impressive opening day collections of Rs 42.7 crore in India, which it achieved according to trade tracker and then went on to make Rs 21.15 crore net on Friday. This makes the film’s worldwide gross earnings of Rs 112.50 crore and total India net earnings of Rs 63.85 crore.
The overall movie house occupancy was 44.33% on Day 2. Morning shows were 32.77% occupied, but these rates were gradually buildup as 37.23% in the afternoon, 47% in the evening shows and 60.31% in the nights’ screenings. Even though the print flation was there the second day, director H. Vinoth expressed his belief that the movie had great prospects.
According to Vinoth, Vijay’s movies receive both positive and negative reviews, and with time, take them in their stride. He stated that Jana Nayagan is an important film for Tamil films, and that directing Vijay’s last movie is a dream experience.
With its release on July 23, the film is also the capstone of Vijay’s magnificent career spanning more than three decades and more than 60 films, before he jumps into his political career.
The film will go up for release worldwide and stars Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Priyamani, Gautham Vasudev Menon and Prakash Raj with music by Anirudh Ravichander.
