Amitabh Bachchan continued his weekly Sunday tradition of greeting fans outside his Mumbai residence, Jalsa, on November 1. However, this time, the actor waved to the gathering from behind a transparent protective enclosure installed on an elevated platform.

His son, Abhishek Bachchan, accompanied him during the appearance. Several security personnel were also seen around the actor, with Abhishek standing behind his father and keeping watch over the crowd.

Reported bomb threat prompts heightened security

The additional security measures come amid reports of a bomb threat email received by Mumbai Police on October 23. The email was reportedly sent to a school in the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) area, prompting an investigation.

The message allegedly mentioned Jalsa and listed October 31 and November 27 as dates for possible attacks. It also referred to singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh in connection with a purported bomb attack at Mumbai’s Mahalaxmi Racecourse on November 27. The threat was reportedly not directed at Dosanjh personally.

The email reportedly carried pro-Khalistan slogans and attributed the threats to a group identifying itself as the “Khalistan National Army”.

Amitabh Bachchan’s Sunday tradition

Bachchan has been greeting fans outside Jalsa every Sunday for more than four decades. The tradition was interrupted only during the COVID-19 pandemic, when public gatherings were restricted.

Fans regularly assemble outside his residence to catch a glimpse of the actor, who acknowledges them with a wave.

Amitabh Bachchan shares health update

The appearance comes after Bachchan recently shared an update about his health, saying that he needed more rest as he continued to recover.

The transparent enclosure was reportedly installed as an additional security measure. However, neither the Bachchan family nor Mumbai Police has issued an official statement confirming the reason for its installation. The findings of the reported threat investigation have also not been officially disclosed.
