Police arrested four individuals accused in the sensational robbery case at Padav-Bhojpur road in a big break. The suspects are students who were allegedly organized by the gang to get Rs. 2 lakh or even more, for the high-end hobbies that they cannot afford for the students who were involved, according to the official statement.
They found Rs 60,000 in cash, Rs 2 lakh in jewellery, two motorcycles, which were used in the robbery, four mobile phones, and a stolen bag in the possession of the accused, police said.
The case was initiated on May 21, 2026 from Mughalsarai Police Station after a complaint was made at the station by Varanasi resident Mahtab Ahmed, according to police officials. In his grievance, Ahmed mentioned he was on his moped on his way home after collecting debts due from some of the shops for his company.
As he journeyed close to the Chaurhat village on the Padav-Bhojpur road, he was allegedly targeted by armed men who were riding two underpowered bikes when they were spotted there and attacked. He was travelling near the village Chaurhat when he was allegedly spotted by two motorcycle riders and then attacked by the thieves, who were riding two motorcycles. According to police, the stolen bag was reportedly carrying Rs 1.34 lakh.
After what seemed a serious incident to the police, they commenced an extensive investigation. Enough footage from the cameras was captured in an area of nearly 25 km in an attempt to identify and trace the movements of suspects.
During this probe, information came in that the accused were desiring to commit the offence again in the area. The police team from Mughalsarai police station immediately struck off and arrested all four accused in a raid in a garden in Chaurhat village on the tip-off.
The police have said they are continuing to investigate the case to find out if there are any other such incidents in the area. The items found have been confiscated, and the prosecution has been launched against the suspects.
