Ayodhya: Ajit Prasad, the son of Awadhesh Prasad, is a general secretary of Samajwadi Party (S.P.) Lok Sabha MP from Ayodhya is involved in a heinous criminal offence. Prasad, who has been nominated for the by-election from Milkipur, one of the 403 assembly constituencies of the State of Uttar Pradesh, has now been accused of kidnapping, violence and threats. In the report lodged by a local property dealer, Ravi Tiwari, Ajit Prasad was allegedly accompanied by Raju Yadav and a group of 15 to 20 people unknown to the victim was stopped near an SBI branch in Faizabad on a Saturday afternoon.
According to Tiwari’s evidence, the group forced him to sit in a vehicle and drove towards Raqaabganj while the accused continued beating him up. He further said that the attackers demanded ₹1 lakh from him and threatened to release the video of the assault on him. Threats to kill him were also allegedly made before he was released, as per these testimonies.
Tiwari claimed that the altercation arose over a land sale between him and Ajit Prasad, during which he was trying to negotiate land with a local owner named Sheetla Prasad. Subsequently, he lodged a report at Kotwali police station in the right spirit of a first information report. Confirming the occurrence and preliminary findings provided by Tiwari to support his allegations, Ashwini Pandey, the Kotwali in-charge for the city, has booked Ajit Prasad, Raju Yadav, police constable Shashikant Rai, along with fifteen others still to be identified.
Following the occurrence, Amit Malviya, the head of the BJP’s IT cell, wrote on social media that Tiwari’s kidnapping and beating were perpetrated by Ajit Prasad, the son of the sitting Faizabad MP while being backed by Akhilesh Yadav of SP. It has raised political issues as Ajit Prasad is the BJP candidate for the upcoming by-elections for the Milkipur seat.
