Chandigarh: In view of the intense heat, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced changes in the timings of government offices and schools in the state. Sharing a post on social media, CM Mann informed that from Monday, May 25, the timings of all government offices and schools will be from 7:30 am to 1:30 pm.
The government believes that the time change will provide relief from the intense heat for people, especially schoolchildren and workers. The administration has advised people to drink plenty of water and only go out in the sun when necessary. Temperatures are expected to rise further in the coming days.
Temperatures in Punjab are consistently peaking, making people feel the heat more intensely. The Meteorological Department has issued a heat wave alert. Rain is also expected in some districts.
