One of the largest cracks downs by the health department has been revealed in Gwalior where the authorities have revoked the license of 16 nursing homes due to failure to renew their registration within the specified time period. This was done under the guidance of Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr. Sachin Srivastava who set up stringent actions on healthcare facilities that did not comply.

The officials claimed that several notices were sent to these nursing homes on December 12, 2025, December 25, 2025, and once more in 2026 and provided them with sufficient time to go through the renewal process. Nevertheless, the institutions did not act according to the regulatory requirements, and they were warned severally, but they did not do it, and the department revoked their licenses.

The targeted facilities are a number of multi-specialty hospitals and nursing homes that are spread throughout Gwalior, including Kalyan Ji Multispecialty hospital, YSM hospital, Asha Devi Memorial hospital, Ram Krishna hospital, Care and Cure hospital, Leela Multispecialty hospital, and others. These homes were being run by other trusts, societies and individuals.

According to the officials, the measure is a part of a larger initiative aimed to make sure that healthcare facilities comply with legal and safety standards. Operating medical institutions without proper registration is not only against the rules but also a great risk to the health of patients.

The health department has threatened that it will keep a close supervision and any subsequent abrogations will receive the same treatment. Governments have encouraged every healthcare organization to adhere to standards of licensing in order to prevent sanctions and provide quality medical services to the citizens.
