On Friday, the Kerala High Court, after receiving a note from the police saying its direction to provide safety to the young girl who shot to fame during the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj has been divergent in the absence of her whereabouts, lifted its earlier interim order.

However, when the police contacted Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas, they informed him that the woman was not found after trying to implement the court protection. The court thereafter withdrew its interim order and set further date July 21 of the order affairs.

The woman came to the High Court seeking police protection due to threats to her life. She had asked the Kerala government officers as well as Station House Officer (SHO) of Ernakulam Central Police Station for her protection.

Now, the court has ordered that police protection can be provided to her if she requests the police in the future, she said, dismissing the police officers’ fears of such a scenario.Dismissing the fear of the police officers, her counsel, Advocate P. S. Anishad, stated that if she approached the police in the future and requested police protection, it can be provided.

The case has been in the public eye but Farman, the husband of the woman, is under investigation by the Madhya Pradesh Police for kidnap. A case was registered with police after a complaint was filed by the father of the woman after alleging that she was a minor.

The young girl turned an internet celebrity at the time of the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela when a content creator posted a video of her selling Rudraksh garland. Later on, she wed Farman against the wishes of her family despite their objections in Kerala.

After the marriage her family filed two cases under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006, and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, claiming she was a child.
