The Aam Aadmi Party AAP chief, Arvind Kejriwal, immediately fired back at Modi after the PM’s verbal assault on the Delhi government, including after the inauguration of the RRTS project in the national capital. He also said that some of these projects would not have been inaugurated had AAP not extended support to the Centre despite the “atrocities” committed against AAP leaders.

Reacting strongly to Modi’s comments, Kejriwal said the AAP was formed for the welfare of the society and to serve the people of Delhi. “Those who have scripted AAP as the perennial adversary should note today’s inauguration as a sign that we are in office for the betterment of Delhiites,” said Kejriwal. He pointed out that AAP was subjected to some very harsh treatments, such as the arrest of top leadership, though the party had not raised these matters to slow down progress. “Had we made these injustices our priority, these projects would have never been commissioned,” he said.

While responding to this speech, Kejriwal inferred that Modi had spent a lot of time decrying AAP. “The PM addressed the nation for 38 minutes, and for 29 of those minutes, he was hurling abuses at the people of Delhi and the elected government. It was disheartening to hear,” Kejriwal said.

He also recalled Modi’s 2020 promise to the people of Delhi. “Delhi’ s people still have not got what the Prime Minister had vowed to provide in 2020,” Kejriwal said. The Delhi CM also said that the BJP’s and Modi’s goal in the upcoming Delhi assembly elections appears only to demonize AAP and question its integrity and policies and not the welfare of Delhi people.

The Political rivalry between the two leaders has continued as both continue with their verbal duelling with a view to the next General Elections.
