The Centre will introduce a Bill in the Rajya Sabha ahead of the Monsoon Session that aims to impose criminal punishment for anyone who insults “Vande Mataram” or does not perform the song. In response to the proposed legislation, BJP MLA Purandar Mishra has given a hard, sarcastic blow to Congress, accusing the party of mistreating the nation.
One who is not faithful to Bharat Mata is not worthy of ruling this country, Mishra said. He wondered about Congress’ commitment to India; said that the party was not keen to say “Bharat Mata Ki Jai.
Congress, if you don’t like to say Bharat Mata Ki Jai, why is Congress in India? It should go to China or Italy,” Mishra said.
The BJP top man also lashed out against the Congress on its current row on electricity bills in Chhattisgarh. He has said there were all kinds of irregularities in the awarding of electricity-related contracts under the previous Bhupesh Baghel government.
Mishra had asked for an inquiry into the matter as only three companies had been awarded the contract under the former Congress government. He also alleged that Congress was trying to mar the reputation of the Vishnu Deo Sai government’s government with its public campaign.
Speaking about the recent combined appearances of former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and former Deputy Chief Minister TS Singh Deo, Mishra took a political swipe, claiming their partnership was a “honeymoon”, which went sour in the past and then rekindled once again.
The statements are expected to add to the political battle of words in Chhattisgarh itself.
