A man who allegedly beat another man on his head with a stick in the process of a land dispute in Kabirdham district of Chhattisgarh was picked up in Telangana after the victim died while being treated at the hospital. Phoolsinh Baiga, the accused, was alleged to be in hiding after the incident and was later tracked and arrested by the Kukdur police.
The incident happened on 2nd December 2024 in Baigapara Polmi village in the jurisdiction area of the Kukdur Station Police. Police said the row over the property resulted in a fight between brothers-in-law Phoolsinh Baiga and Suklal Baiga. As he was arguing the accused threatened, abused and beat his uncle on the head with a stick.
One Suklal Baiga was seriously injured and taken to a hospital for treatment. He was then treated at his home for approximately 15 days. But, there was no change in his condition and he passed away on 17 December. Once it was established that injuries he had received in the attack had caused his death, police added Section 103(1) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) to the case.
Phoolsinh Baiga, however, after knowing about his uncle’s death, allegedly shifted to bookmark Telangana to avoid the police. Kukdur police started searching, provided by informers and technical evidence, his whereabouts.
Based on information that the accused was hiding in Telangana, it was decided to send a police team to Sangareddy district. The team was able to find out Phoolsinh Baiga at the area of Gummadidala police station and returned him to Kawardha.
Kawardha SP Jitendra Yadav confirmed the arrest of the accused and stated that for several days, he had been absconding. After being produced before the court, Phoolsinh Baiga was sent to judicial remand.
