Bilaspur: The Congress party initiated a protest called the “Rail Roko” movement today in Raipur, the capital city. This demonstration expressed dissatisfaction with the government’s frequent train service cancellations in Chhattisgarh state. In Bilaspur district, Congress workers gathered in the morning at Kargi Road Kota railway station. Halted a goods train as an act of civil disobedience. They laid themselves on the tracks. Passionately chanted slogans effectively blocking the railway for two hours.
The Congress party organized these protests to highlight the declining condition of train services and the challenges passengers face. Additionally, state-level BJP leaders took this opportunity to convey their dissatisfaction with how the central government has responded to these issues.
Under the leadership of Vijay Kesharwani, district president of Congress party workers halted goods trains on both up and down railway lines. They expressed their discontent with central government policies and Indian Railways passionately emphasizing that this protest responded to those policies. Ahead of the protest, the railway administration initiated discussions regarding security arrangements.
The railway authorities also issued a notice regarding the “Rail Roko” campaign advising that appropriate legal measures would be taken in case of any disruptions to railway services. Additionally, the Railway Police Force has been deployed across the state to ensure order and safety during these demonstrations.
