Raipur: Chhattisgarh will vote in two phases on November 7 and November 17 to elect 90 legislators to the assembly. Congress has fielded Bhupesh Baghel from his traditional seat- Patan in Chhattisgarh’s Durg district. While Patan is the state’s central region and is among Congress’ strongholds, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel will play a key role in helping Congress form government and will once again lead the party’s charge.

The stage is set for all political leaders as they aspire to come into power. However, Congress has been receiving massive crowds in their rally. The crowd gathered at Kawardha after Minister Shri Mohammad Akbar was announced as the Congress candidate, massive crowd gathered to meet him. CM Baghel retweeted a tweet posted by INC Chhattisgarh on X and wrote “This is the people’s leader”.

Baghel entered politics in 1990 as the Congress’s district youth president and was elected to the Legislative Assembly for the first time in 1993. Further, he won the assembly elections four more times in 1998, 2003, 2013, 2018. In 2018 assembly election, Bhupesh Baghel received 84,352 votes and defeated BJP candidate Motilal Sahu by a margin of 27,477 votes.
