At the age of 19, Nischal, an Indian rifle shooter, achieved an incredible feat by winning the silver medal in the Women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions event at the ISSF World Cup held in Rio De Janeiro. This accomplishment is remarkable because it was Nischal’s time competing at the World Cup, and it happened on the closing day of the tournament.

In the final, Nischal showed composure and skill, scoring a total of 458.0 points. However, she was narrowly outperformed by Jeanette Hegg Duestad, a rifle expert who holds various titles such as Air Rifle European Champion and 300m 3P World Champion. Jeanette also boasts a collection of 12 ISSF World Cup medals, including five gold medals.

Nischal’s excellence was evident throughout the day as she not only secured her spot in the final but also broke the qualification record for Women’s 3P shooting. She started her journey with a performance in the relay, scoring an impressive 587 points to comfortably qualify for further rounds. Her fellow Indian shooters Anjum Moudgil and Ayushi Podder also advanced to the stage in the relay.

During the qualification rounds, Nischal showcased precision by accumulating a score of 592 points. Her exceptional performance included achieving a score of 200 in the position.

Anjum’s previous record of 591 set at the Presidents Cup in Cairo the year was exceeded by this score.
