Dewas: Dewas Police launched a big crackdown on illegal gambling in the section of their police station, where 12 persons were arrested during a late night raid at a gambling house that was functioning in the deep forest outside the Bairagarh forest outpost.

The operation was carried out while the tip-off was received that there was heavy making of bets in the forest during 18th September night. Police from Bagli, Udainagar and Kantaphod police stations joined hands with the police personnel from Chapda outpost and formed a joint team and surrounded the suspected gambling site under the guidance of SDOP, Bagli, Sanjay Singh Bais.

The unexpected surprise left everyone horrified. Some of the suspects were able to maybe even take advantage of the darkness and the forest and they managed to escape. But 12 were arrested at the scene by the police teams.

During the case, police found ₹5,55,100 in cash. One four wheeler car, five motorcycles and 15 Android phones were also recovered in addition to the cash. The total valuation of the seized cash and other material has been valued at around ₹12,86,200.

Kantaphod police have filed a case against all the 12 arrested persons under Section 13 of Public Gambling Act. The investigation into the case continues and the accused are being questioned.

The police too is trying to trace down the alleged chief operators behind the entire affair as well as the fact that those who did not capture during the raid are being traced. Additional arrests may be made as a result of information gathered during questioning and the investigation.

The initial operation is aimed at reducing gambling games in the vicinity of the area. Police continued to investigate to see how extensive the network might be and whether other individuals involved were able to be identified.
