Mumbai: In the fight for who gets the Shiv Sena, former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray told the Election Commission that the faction led by Eknath Shinde cannot claim the bow-an-arrow symbol. The reason for the same cited as he and other MLAs in his camp had voluntarily quit the party.

“Eknath Shinde quit, cant stake claim to Shiv Sena and its symbol”, Uddhav Thackeray replied to the Election Commission as it asked the minister to respond by Saturday in view of the upcoming assembly by-poll in the state.

The Commission’s directive the Thackeray faction came today as the Shinde faction submitted a memorandum seeking allocation of the bow-an-arrow election symbol as Andheri East assembly bypoll approaches. The Commission has asked him to furnish comments along with requisite documents latest by 2Pm on October 8.
