Hyderabad: Amidst the investigation of a high profile gang rape in Hyderabad, two more cases of minor assault have been reported. A 36-year-old cab driver and his friend sexually assaulted an 11-year-old girl who went missing on May 31st. On preliminary investigations, it is being learnt that the victim who used to stay with her grandparents was visiting her parents last Tuesday. She was offered a lift by the cabbie while she waited for an autorickshaw. The accused was joined by his associate shortly after the victim was on board and drove her into the nearby village on the outskirts and tarnished her modesty.
In another incident, a 21-year-old identified as Mohd Sufiyan has been nabbed for kidnapping and raping a minor on May 30th. The accused was arrested following a police complaint filed by the victim’s mother.
Meanwhile, a week after the Jubilee hills gang rape case, police recovered the car in which the crime was carried out. The police suspect the Innova to have been cleaned thoroughly after the incident to wipe out evidence. It claimed that the accused allegedly made failed attempts to destroy evidence such as biological fluid, earrings, footwear, and hair — and send them for forensic examination. The police have now invoked Section 201 of the Indian Penal Code (causing the disappearance of evidence of the offence or giving false information to screen the offender) against the accused.
Police on Sunday arrested a teenager, believed to be a scion of a Telanagana politician from Sangardeey district. Another politician’s son, 17, and two of his friends were rounded up over the past two days. The fifth accused is still at large. Police are expected to move court today to seek custody of all the arrested quartets.
