Bagalkot: Karnataka’s Kerur witnessed a major violent event as arguments between two different communities turned into clashes. One person was stabbed and three were left injured. While a bike was set on fire in violence, shops, and push carts were vandalized.
Sources reveal that a war allegedly broke out between two groups over a petty issue and soon it turned into a communal clash. Meanwhile, some shops, push cart or fruit vendors, and a bike were set on fire by a group of miscreants in the market area.
The situation was brought under control by the Karnataka Police and eighteen people were arrested. Superintendent of Police Jayaprakash and other police officials went to the spot and brought the situation under control. Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) Section 144 has been imposed in the town till Friday. As a precautionary measure, the schools and colleges are closed today and large gatherings have been banned till tomorrow.
