Sriharikotla: In a significant milestone for India’s space program, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)’s communication satellite, GSAT-N2, was successfully launched into orbit on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. The launch was carried out by Elon Musk’s SpaceX using their powerful Falcon 9 rocket from the Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida, marking the first commercial collaboration between ISRO and SpaceX.
“Kudos team ISRO & SpaceX for successful launch of #GSAT N2! Aims at enhancing internet services, including in remote areas as well as in-flight connectivity. With personal intervention of PM Narendra Modi, ISRO has been able to register one success after the other”, ISRO informed through a tweet on X.
The GSAT-N2 is a state-of-the-art communication satellite designed to enhance broadband services and in-flight connectivity across India. With a data transmission capacity of 48 Gbps, this satellite will play a crucial role in expanding internet access, particularly in remote and underserved areas.
This launch represents a significant achievement for both ISRO and SpaceX.
