New Delhi: The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) overlooking the city’s fight against the sudden uptick in a meeting today declared a fine of Rs 500 for those not wearing masks in public. The penalty on the residents was announced as the city battled the sudden surge majorly impacting schools.
A source in the know said the schools would remain open for now and guidelines to prevent infection spread on the campus would be issued after a discussion with the experts. officials further had a discussion on the pace of the vaccination camps and the need for enhanced testing.
The meeting came in view of the drastic unexplained rise of infections in the national capital over the past few days. According to the MOHFW, the daily case count rose by 26 per cent on Tuesday. However, a fall in the positivity rate from 7.72 per cent on Monday was recorded.
