The founder of the satirical online “Cockroach Janta Party”, Abhijeet Dipke arrived at Janter Mantar today morning as he announced to host a peaceful protest. Dipke as soon as landing in India on Saturday morning, took to his X handle. Updating his status he said, “Looking forward to meet you all at Jantar Mantar. Do not forget to carry a book and our Tiranga!”.

In a post on X, CJP spokesperson Saurav Das said that the police has granted permission to protest at Jantar Mantar. The Delhi police said the protest can be carried out from 10am-5pm under ‘one time exception’ permission granted. Supporters are seen piling up at Jantar Mantar to participate in the peaceful protest.

Ahead of the planned protest at Jantar Mantar, Cockroach Janta Party’s digital outfit spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka said that the outfit is hopeful that “this will be monumental day in Indian politics.”

Security was intensified across Delhi on Saturday (June 6, 2026), with police deploying additional personnel at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, border entry points, and other sensitive locations ahead of a proposed protest call by the digital outfit Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). Police teams have also been deployed at key intersections, marketplaces, and other sensitive locations to maintain law and order.

Multiple layers of barricades have been put up outside the international airport precinct as part of heightened security measures, while vehicle-checking drives have been intensified at border points and on major routes leading to central Delhi, police officials said.

Earlier this week, Mr. Dipke had announced that he would return to India from Boston on June 6 to launch a peaceful protest seeking the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over examination-related lapses. Education reformer and climate activist Sonam Wangchuk has said he would join the protest if Minister Pradhan does not step down by June 5.

The outfit was initially formed as a satirical reaction to remarks made by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant during a court hearing last month, when certain individuals were referred to as “cockroaches” and “parasites”. Since then, it has evolved into an organised campaign and built a massive following online.

Its popularity has grown rapidly, driven by the slogan, “a political front for the youth, by the youth, for the youth”. The party’s Instagram account has crossed 22 million followers, more than double the BJPs 9 million followers on the platform and ahead of the Congress party’s 13 million followers.
