Rudraprayag: A landslide near Chidwasa in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand on Sunday resulted in three fatalities and eight injuries. The incident took place on the Kedarnath Road. The injured were promptly relocated by a State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team immediately after their arrival. The SDRF gave the district police the bodies of the three deceased individuals.
Pushkar Singh Dhami, the chief minister of Uttarakhand, posted on X in response to the tragedy. He wrote, “It is very sad to hear that some pilgrims were hurt by heavy stones and debris that fell from the hill near the Kedarnath Yatra route.”
He also gave people comfort, saying that rescue operations were still in progress after the landslide and that the injured would receive medical attention. “Relief and rescue efforts are ongoing at the accident scene; I maintain constant communication with the relevant authorities regarding this matter.” I have instructed the medical staff to start treating the accident victims better immediately,” he continued.
From Gaurikund, the pilgrims were traveling to Kedarnath Dham. The ongoing Char Dham Yatra has over 26 lakh pilgrims registered from both India and abroad.
