New Delhi: India reported 51,667 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. This took the cumulative count of infections to 2,98,81,183 from the Union Health Ministry.
The recovery rate at 96.66 per cent accounted for 64,527 recuperations in the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries to 2,91,28,267. The daily positivity rate stood at 2.98%, less than 5% for 18 consecutive days.
The number of active cases has reduced to 61,2,868 accounting for 2.03 per cent of the total number of cases. The active cases reported a decline of 14,189 in the last 24 hours. However, the mortality rate recorded at 1.31 per cent reported 1,329 deaths, taking the cumulative death toll to 3,93,310.
Following intensive genome sequencing, the Madhya Pradesh government reported that the second wave in the state was proved by the Delta Plus Variant. Kerala, Maharashtra and Jammu Kashmir have also detected the mutation.
Over two crore doses have been administered in the first 72 hours of the implementation of the newly revised guidelines of the National COVID-19 vaccination programme, the Health Ministry said. Over 30.79 crore vaccine doses have been administered since the start of the massive nationwide vaccination drive in January. More than 1.89 crore balance and unutilised COVID-19 vaccine doses are still available with the states and Union territories, as per the government.
