Mumbai: In an unexpected turn of events, veteran actors Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi became talk of the town for a gentle peck in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani. Contrary to popular belief, the on-screen kiss was not planned and it arose spontaneously during the shooting of an intense sequence between the two legendary performers.
Director Karan Johar firmly believed that the passionate conversation between the duo portraying long-last lovers, deserved an added emotional touch. Thus, he decided to capture their rekindled romance with a subtle peck.
This may be the first Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi have been together, the veteran actor previously been involved in on-screen kissing in 1982 film Dushman Devta and more recently in Life in a Metro.
Starring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh in the main lead, the movie had a decent start at the box office on its opening day. As per pre-release estimates, the film was expected to garner Rs 12 to 15 crores on Day 1, however, the collection stood at Rs 11.10 crores. Day 2 numbers saw a jump in its collection which are further expected to go up on Sunday.
