MUMBAI – Renowned writer Shobhaa De has come to the defense of Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh on account of his wise decision to remain silent while being caught up in the increasing tension between the actors and directors regarding his quitting the directorial Don 3 of Farhan Akhtar. The support of De arrives two days following his team claiming that the actor will keep a noble position and not indulge in a verbal war.
Through her Instagram reel, the writer expressed admiration for the restraint displayed by the actor, saying that his choice to remain silent was a perfect public relations move. “Ranveer Singh is a smart person. He’s keeping himself silent. He’s letting people fight his battles. His fans and followers will protect him,” De said. Additionally, she highlighted the business advantage of what he was doing by noting, “The way Ranveer is enhancing his popularity through his silence is commendable.”
But the writer did not limit her support to his act of restraint alone. She further commented on the bigger issue of politics in the film industry, where Ranveer had recently been banned.
In accordance with De, however, the reaction seems to represent an “ugly conspiracy” that is not only targeting Singh but also his Dhurandhar series – the new spy-thriller films that he stars in and that are directed by Aditya Dhar.
It has been predicted within the film industry that the conflict over Don 3 has caused a domino effect, creating a dividing line amongst high-profile producers. In refraining from making any sort of public statement and placing blame on anyone, Singh has managed to protect his future productions against additional negative publicity.
Besides Shobha De, Mika vouched for Ranveer’s character. He said, “Ranveer Singh is such a good and down-to-earth person. I know FWICE very well, and I’ll personally meet them and talk to them. After all, we are the bhais.”
