Despite attempts to revise dialogues and reduce ticket prices, the film Adipurush is experiencing a decline in box office collections. After an impressive opening weekend that garnered over Rs 300 crore, the film is plummeting in earnings following the first Monday. Released on June 16, 2023, this epic drama only managed to collect a mere Rs 7.50 crore on Wednesday across all languages in India.
Industry tracker reports that the film’s performance has been lacklustre in its initial five days, accumulating a total of ₹247.80 crore net in India. With the addition of earnings on the sixth day, the domestic collection now stands at Rs 255.30 crore. At the global box office, the film’s momentum has slowed down and shows no signs of improvement. While the production house T-series claimed that the film had earned Rs 395 crore worldwide as of Tuesday, updated figures suggest it may have crossed the Rs 400 crore mark. However, with a budget of Rs 500 crore, the film is expected to be a commercial disappointment.
Directed by Om Raut and inspired by the Hindu epic Ramayana, Adipurush features Prabhas in the role of Raghava, with Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan portraying Janaki and Lankesh, respectively. Audience displeasure has been expressed over certain dialogues in the film, leading the dialogue writer, Manoj Muntashir, to announce plans for dialogue revisions that aim to address the concerns raised.
