Shiv Sena (UBT) chief and supposed actor Aaditya Thackeray has denied any involvement in the death of Disha Salian, ex-management of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, in the FIR filed against him by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) last year.
In a recent tweet on X from Wednesday, Thackeray stated that he had never come across Salian and didn’t know her. He has been embroiled in the case for the last six years, which he characterises as a political and personal vendetta against him, and says he found the linkages and casual abuse of his name to be an issue of character assassination.
“Well, personally, I have never met Disha Salian, nor had any acquaintance with her,” Thackeray said, adding that he wanted to stick to the facts during the controversy.
The CBI on Monday filed the FIR under sections of the Criminal Law Amendment Act (2013) pertaining to murder, criminal conspiracy and other crimes. The case has been filed in the police station after requests of the Bombay High Court due to the failure in the investigation by the Mumbai Police, as pointed out by Salian’s father Satish Salian.
Later Satish Salian recorded his statement with the CBI. In one of the complaints filed against him, he named several people like former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray and Aaditya Thackeray and alleged that they were part of a conspiracy and subsequent cover-up. The accusations continue to be under investigation.
The FIR mentions Aaditya Thackeray and actors Dino Morea, Sooraj Pancholi and Rhea Chakraborty, doctors and staff members connected with the wrong timing of the post-mortem as persons whose involvement in the case should be investigated.
Thackeray has earlier had accusations of the ruling alliance of trying to tag himself with the case. Other people mentioned in the FIR have also said that they are not involved.
The CBI probe will now look into the contents of the FIR and the involvement of the persons named in the CBI’s case. When an FIR is registered against a person or he or she is named in such an FIR, it does not necessarily imply that he or she is guilty of the charges in the case.
