Kabir Khan’s directorial sports biopic garnered a sum of Rs 13-14 crore on its first day. The movie received a warm welcome from the audience and the critics. Disappointed filmmakers however had assumed an opening similar to Sooryavanshi, which wasn’t much possible amidst the Omicron threat and restrictions imposed on social gatherings at social places.
Ranveer Singh’s debut co-star Anushka Sharma penned a powerful review for Ranveer Singh’s performance in ’83’, while she has also praised the cinematic experience presented by Kabir Khan. Taking to her Instagram account, the actress wrote, “A magical moment in India’s sporting history brought to life so beautifully by the entire team of #83TheFilm. Kabir Khan, thank you for letting the newer generations relive this through your film and Ranveer Singh, what can I say? You are just superlative in the film. Not a single false note from you in any frame, just sheer brilliance on your part. Loved all performances equally! Well played team 83 Clapping.”
Mr Kohli, on the same note also took to Twitter and praised the reel life Kapil Dev. The cricketer tweeted- “Couldn’t have relived the most iconic moment of Indian cricket history in a better manner. A fantastically made movie which immerses you in the events and the emotion of the world cup in 1983. Splendid performances as well.”
