An important announcement has been made at a crucial time in relation to the countrywide protest against the NEET-UG examination when the Central Government told the Supreme Court on Friday that the Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi, himself is overseeing the entire matter. The admission was made before a crucial court case that was taking place regarding the cancellation of the exam due to leakage of questions in the question paper.
It was admitted in court by the Solicitor General of India, Tushar Mehta, in front of a bench that was hearing petitions related to the conduct of the NTA and cancellation of the medical test. Wanting an exhaustive report regarding the process of investigation into the matter, Justice PS Narasimha asked the Ministry of Education to submit an affidavit containing the following points:
Responding straightaway to the bench’s demands for high levels of accountability and reforms, Solicitor General of India highlighted the seriousness of the matter in the eyes of the executive. “Honourable Prime Minister is personally supervising,” said Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, as reported by LiveLaw.
Furthermore, he explained that the Prime Minister himself was monitoring the attempts made at resolving the shortcomings in the exam system. Swift Action Taken by Government It is reported that the Prime Minister ordered his ministers’ council to take prompt actions so that the careers of many students are not delayed any longer unnecessarily.
Supreme Court Emphasizes Immediate Need for Physical and Institutional Infrastructure Within the NTA It is crucial that a sound physical infrastructure is built in the NTA immediately so that the credibility of national exams can be restored once again. The case has been under the scrutiny of the supreme court, which will get an affidavit from the government in the next hearing.
