Changes has caused Maharashtra government to further shift dates of the Maharashtra Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) 2026 just one day before it was to be held, due to accusations of leakage of a question paper.

The exam was supposed to be conducted at 1,028 centres around Maharashtra on June 28. But the Maharashtra State Examination Council decided to postpone the test after police recovered papers having questions that allegedly had similarity with the official set of test papers.

Earlier on June 27, Bhiwandi Police was provided with confidential details that a group of people got access to the TET question paper before the test, according to Nandkumar Bedse, the Director of the Maharashtra State Examination Council. Quickly, the police raided and called policymakers from the examination council to check the captured resources. The police acted immediately and solicited the experts from the examination council to confirm the captured resources.

In the verification process, it was confirmed that some of the questions present in the retrieved papers matched that of the TET 2026 question paper. Police registered a case and have started a detailed investigation into the alleged leak after the discovery.

The examination council has mentioned that extensive security measures are being taken while setting up for the TET, particularly in light of the discrepancies found in NEET 2026 exams. In spite of these precautions, the suspected leakage has caused the authorities to delay the examination so that things will be fair and transparent in the recruitment process.

The council, in a formal statement, explained that the examination had been rescheduled, so that it would provide a comprehensive investigation and give candidates a fair opportunity to compete.

After an investigation, revised examination date shall be published on the official website of Maharashtra State Examination Council. Police so far are still trying to work out who may have leaked the exam papers as well as any other players in a bigger network.
