The National Testing Agency (NTA) has been set the deadline of July 20 for publication of NEET UG 2026 retest results, assuring candidates that the rerun of the exam, according to the revised exam schedule, will not lead to the postponement of the commencement of the academic session of the MBBS courses.

The agency is under a “war footing” to review the process and “publish the results as soon as possible,” says a NTA official, who spoke. The agency has promised to provide the answers on or before 20 July, but it has not been officially confirmed.

The official added that while the results of NEET are usually declared within 45 days of the examination, the reporting time is being hurried up this year as the retest took place after the original May-3 test was cancelled 37 days ago.

Candidates had the opportunity to raise objections to the provisional answer key for the retest in June 21 which was made available on June 25. The NTA said that about 10,000 challenges were received and that each of the objections are being looked into one by one before the final answer key is prepared.

The agency has also announced that the ₹200 processing fee per challenged question will be reimbursed in case of a wrongful objection.

The NTA has told students that the process for admissions to the MBBS course will be timely as it has been delayed because of the re-examination. Following announcing of the results the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will release counselling schedule for state quota (AIQ) seats of the All India Quota, AIIMS, JIPMER, central university and deemed to be Universities/Institutions and individual states will organise counselling for their state quota seats.

The NTA also repeated that the academic session of MBBS will commence on time and retest shall not impact the overall calendar of admission.
