New Delhi: The tension reached new heights today outside the National Testing Agency (NTA) office in Delhi when ABVP conducted a loud and rowdy protest. This protest is a result of the sudden decision to cancel the NEET-UG exam for the year 2026, leaving more than 22.79 lakh students in confusion.

The protest, which was marked by the sloganeering against the NTA, was organized in response to the late-night decision by the NTA on May 12 to cancel the May 3 examination due to the evidence of a major paper leak in relation to “guess papers” and “VIP sets”, which had similarities to the original question paper.

Violence and Increased Security

Violence erupted when the protesting students tried to rush through the barricades raised by the police. Many ABVP students were seen jumping over the barricades in an attempt to reach the office premises.

Security Deployment: In the wake of this agitation, the Delhi Police and Rapid Action Force (RAF) have been dispatched in large numbers to ensure peace.

Police Actions: Although the situation was well within control, a few protestors had been arrested after some scuffles occurred around the gateways.

Official Response: According to senior police officials, no outside elements had been permitted into the highly secured area so that the official business was not hampered.

Addressing the protesting crowd, ABVP officials called for a speedy investigation and overhaul of the exam procedures adopted by the NTA. “It is unacceptable to put the future of thousands of students at stake because of the inefficiency of the administration. The new examination schedule must be framed and the paper leak mafia be rooted out,” an ABVP spokesman declared.
