Amritsar: Four individuals, including the spouse and son of the Congress Sarpanch of Padhri Kalan village, find themselves facing a case of attempted murder following a complaint filed by Salwinder Singh, an affiliate of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and a resident of the same village. The incident in question transpired on Wednesday night when Salwinder Singh was injured in a shooting incident within the village, leading to the involvement of the Chabal police, who registered the case on Thursday.
The accused parties implicated in the case are Dilbag Singh, the husband of the village Sarpanch, Jagandeep Singh (the Sarpanch’s son), Gurdev Singh (a family sympathizer), and an unidentified individual. Salwinder Singh detailed in his police complaint that he was present on a village street when the accused individuals allegedly opened fire on him, resulting in his injury.
Investigating Officer ASI Manpreet Singh reported that the accused individuals had been charged under Sections 307 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in conjunction with Sections 25, 27, 54, and 59 of the Arms Act. Salwinder Singh is currently undergoing medical treatment at a hospital in Amritsar, while the accused remain large.
Efforts are underway to apprehend the accused, with the police actively conducting raids to locate them in their potential hideouts. The incident has brought attention to the need for a thorough investigation and resolution, highlighting the importance of maintaining law and order within the village.
