New Delhi: Oil prices eased Wednesday stemming from US President Donald Trumps’ latest statement ‘ the war with Iran will end soon’, though investors remain wary about the outcome of the Islamabad brokered peace talks.
Brent crude futures fell 45 cents to $110.83 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate futures dropped 27 cents to $103.88. Both benchmarks had declined nearly $1 on Tuesday following remarks by US Vice President JD Vance that progress had been made in talks and that neither side wanted to resume military action.
Experts noted a close monitoring by investors who are routing for safe havens amidst this volatile market. They warned that the oil prices are likely to remain elevated as crude oil supply will not gain momentum like pre-war levels.
Here on Tuesday, fuel prices were hiked by 0.90paise per litre for the second time in a row in 6 days. Struck by the spike, commercial vehicle drivers union across Delhi- NCR have called for a three day strike demanding an immediate revision in taxi and auto fares amidst rising fuel costs and what they describe as unfair practices by app based cab aggregators.
In Delhi, petrol prices climbed from Rs 97.77 to Rs 98.64 per litre, while diesel prices rose from Rs 90.67 to Rs 91.58 per litre.
