Raipur: In the Lok Sabha, Santosh Pandey, the Member of Parliament for the Kavardha-Rajnandgaon constituency, brought attention to the challenges faced due to the absence of a postal division in Rajnandgaon. During the session, he specifically raised the demand for establishing a postal division in Rajnandgaon. The MP pointed out that while Rajnandgaon falls under the postal sub-division of the parliamentary constituency, the regional office is located in Bhilai (Durg) district. This geographical separation creates dependence on Bhilai for postal services, affecting the efficiency of mail-related tasks for citizens and postal employees in Rajnandgaon and surrounding districts.

Pandey emphasized that the remoteness of the postal division office in Bhilai leads to unnecessary time and financial expenses for the public during mail transactions. He highlighted the recent increase in the number of districts in his parliamentary constituency, reaching a total of four, with one being entirely tribal. The current sub-divisions under Rajnandgaon include Kabirdham, Khairagarh-Chuikhadan-Gandai, Mohla-Manpur-Chouki (a completely tribal district), and development blocks Dongargarh and Dongargaon.

While these sub-divisions operate as part of the Rajnandgaon postal sub-division, the average distance from the current regional office to all these districts is approximately 120 kilometers. In light of this, Pandey advocated for the integration of these sub-divisions to grant full division status to Rajnandgaon. He argued that this step would centralize all postal activities in Rajnandgaon, eliminating unnecessary delays and ensuring expedited services for the entire region.

By uniting these sub-divisions, Rajnandgaon would attain the status of a complete postal division, streamlining postal operations and promoting efficiency. Pandey’s appeal seeks to address the challenges faced by the public and postal employees due to the current geographical dependencies and pave the way for a more accessible and responsive postal system in the region.
