Dehradun: A cloudburst was reported in Uttarakhand’s Dehradun in the wee hours of Saturday, confirmed officials.
SDRF teams were immediately moved in to initiate rescue operations. According to the SDRF, an incident of cloudburst was reported by locals at 2.35 am in Sakhet village in Raipur block of Dehradun district.
Officials from the SDRF team have reported to have safely relocated those stranded in floods trigerred by the cloudburst.
“Due to the continuous torrential rains since yesterday, the Tamasa river flowing near the famous Tapkeshwar Mahadev temple in Dehradun has taken a formidable form. Due to which the contact of Mata Vaishno Devi Cave Yoga Temple and Tapkeshwar Mahadev has been lost, the pool has also been damaged. By the grace of God, there has been no loss of life or property,” said Acharya Bipin Joshi, the founder of the temple.
No fatalities have been reported so far, SDRF officials said.
Due to the torrential rains, traffic was disrupted at many places on Totaghati and Teen Dhara on the National Highway to Badrinath shrine. In the wake of the downpour, the Bhilangana river, Nailchami river and Balganga river passing through Tehri district were in spate. Low-lying areas of Haridwar were put on alert after the Ganga breached the warning level. The river was flowing at 293.70 metres, just below the he danger mark of 294 metres
