Chhattisgarh’s Dhamtari district has raised a big job scam issue in which a man claimed he was tricked off a job package worth of nearly Rs 9 lakh with assurance of getting a job under Samagra Shiksha. In the complaint filed at Magarlod Police Station there are reports of cheque forgery and fake NEFT transactions as well.
A resident of Karelibari village, Harishchand Sahu had come in touch with the accused, Yogendra Kumar Dewangan, during some protest over the outcome of the professional teacher examination held in July 2025, the complaint alleged. Dewangan had allegedly offered jobs in Samagra Shiksha with Rs 2.5 lakh per applicant.
Then, Harishchand introduced 2 of his friends, Devesh Kumar Sahu and Pulusta Kumar Khursuni to the accused. From August, 2025 to early 2026, the complainant made several online transfers of cash and also gave Rs 2.5 lakh in cash at his residence.
Complainant stated that he was called to appear for an online examination & interview on January 2026 and told that he has been selected to Government Higher Secondary School, Nartora. But no appointment ever took place and multiple requests for a refund were allegedly never answered.
Harishchand said that accused had raised a cheque for Rs 2.5 lakh which bounced due to the signature mismatch. He also stated that the sum of Rs. 50,000 was deducted from their account as proof of repayment under the fake NEFT transaction, but the remaining sum has not been returned after repeated promises.
The police have filed the complaint and initiated an investigation in respect of the alleged job scam, forgery and financial fraud. Authorities are probing provided financing information and papers from the complainant.
