Bhopal: The IMD in a fresh notice on Tuesday issued an orange alert for Rajgarh, Neemcuh, Ratlam, Shajapur, Agar, Indore, Ujjain, Narmadapuram and Mandasur districts. Light showers and thunderstorms were predicted in Chambal and Gwalior divisions.

Life has gone out of gear in several districts amidst the downpour from the past 2 days. Schools have been shut in Bhopal, Sehore, Narmadapuram and Shajapur and several residents from low-lying areas that complained of water logging were rescued.

Collaborating with the SDRF team deployed in Sehore, Collector Chandramohan and SP Mayank Awasthi engaged in the rescue operations launched in the flood-prone areas of Somalwada. According to sources relief camps have been set up in Shahgunj. Somalwada has so far not recorded heavy rains, however, the water flow from Tawa and Bargi dams flooded the area threatening habitats in the vicinity of Narmada.

NDRF and SDRF teams were deployed to rescue those stranded in Vidisha and Narmadapuram. CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan reached Narmadapuram to take stock of the situation. He directed the district administration and the police to be alert. He directed the administration to shift people to safer places. He also appealed to citizens to co-operate with officials and shift to safer places. “SDRF teams have been deployed in the districts like Narmadapuram, Raisen, Betul, Sehore, Jabalpur and other districts located on Narmada’s catchment,” Chouhan said.

In the past 24 hours, as per statistics Raisen has recorded the highest rainfall 7 inches.
