Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday dismissed the anticipatory bail plea of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia in the drugs case registered against him in Mohali. The former Punjab minister is now approaching the Supreme Court for interim protection from arrest in the case.

The High Court bench of Justice Lisa Gill heard arguments from both the sides and order was reserved for the pronouncement at 4 PM. Sources reveal that the detailed order is still missing. On the last date of the hearing, January 18, Punjab Police told the court that Majithia is not cooperating in the probe, even though he joined the investigations on multiple times.

The state government of Punjab has roped in former Union minister and Supreme Court lawyer P Chidambaram for the case. Contrarily, the apex court lawyer Mukul Rohtagi with senior advocate RS Cheema represented Majithia. Cheema argued on behalf of Majithia that there is inexplicable delay in lodging of an FIR.
