UAE: The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain struggled with the bat this season, and many speculated that it was time for him to retire. But, Dhoni repeated history by delivering when it mattered most for his team, leading them to victory. CSK advanced to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 final thanks to Dhoni’s amazing innings of 18 not out off just six balls.

Virat Kohli Tweets commending his performance, “Anddddd the king is back the greatest finisher ever in the game. Made me jump Outta my seat once again”.

On Sunday, spectators got to see Dhoni in his prime, taking the bowlers and finishing the job when it appeared all was gone. In the penultimate over, Dhoni stepped out to bat, and when he got on strike, CSK needed 19 runs off nine balls to win. He began with a furious swing before switching to Avesh Khan’s gentler delivery. To get off the mark, he hammered a flat six over deep mid-wicket the next ball.

The final over was thrown by England pacer Tom Curran, who struck with his first ball to dismiss Moeen Ali. He hit three straight fours to help CSK cross the finish line with two balls to spare.
