The Chhattisgarh government has unveiled a series of facilities for NHM staff members such as salary-related facilities, leaves and facilities for welfare at a state level NHM staff members convention held in the city of Raipur. Employees’ salaries would also be paid while they went on strike, the Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said. The announcement came after these staff members had raised concerns and then gone out on a prolonged strike over several demands related to employment. An announcement has come as a result of concerns raised by NHM staff members who had earlier engaged in a prolonged strike under various demands related to employment.
Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal addressing the gathering discussed various welfare measures for its employees. One of the major announcements was the NHM staff will get a salary hike of 27 per cent as a soon-to-be bill.
The minister also said that staff members would get 30 days medical leave. Additionally, a transfer policy has been developed to cover issues of employee transfer and posting within the State.
They also declared that all the NHM employees will be taken care of through insurance policy scheme. In such a scenario, financial support would be provided to the families under the proposed framework. The event also covered provisions for provisions of educational support for employee’s children.
A committee has been established for a review of issues regarding grades and compensation. There would also be a mechanism for claiming and objecting, authorities indicated, to be built into the employee evaluation process.
At the convention, the government has recognised the role of NHM employees in the healthcare system of the state and highlighted their continued efforts to make the healthcare services in the state more robust.
Many of the employees at the event hailed the steps as welcome measures to resolve array of pay-related issues and service conditions and employee welfare that have long plagued them.
