The attack on her husband and party chief Sukhbir Singh Badal recently has been a well-planned political conspiracy, said Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal in an allegation that the man in question was no Sikh.
Sukhbir Badal sustained an injury in his right hand Thursday while serving in an Nanded in Maharashtra when he was attacked by a member of the Nihang order with a kirpan in a gurdwara in Nanded’s outskirts. He was then arrested as the culprit.
Harsimrat Kaur could not stop her tears while shedding light on the incident of her husband, at the conference to commemorate the Goa Liberation Movement leader Karnail Singh Isru in her village of Isru in Khanna, Punjab.
The 48 hours had been very difficult for her family, she added adding that Sukhbir Badal was supposed to be present to join her family for the event.
Harsimrat Kaur said that Sukhbir Badal was attacked during the prayer time, the guy was offering prayers at a Sikh shrine for Sikh peace and prosperity in Punjab.
She condemned the incident saying no Sikh would do such an act. She additionally said that the assaulter was a “Guru Dokhi”, or an individual performing against the Guru.
Harsimrat Kaur also alleged that the attack on Sukhbir Badal was a repeat of his previous attack in Nanded, where he had suffered two attacks over the past two years. She accused the attack as a part of a larger political plan that goes back to 2015, a claim that appears to be false.
The accused has been taken hostage while the police tries to find out how and why it happened. The attack on its chief has also led to a political debate, with the Shiromani Akali Dal asking the government for further details about the circumstances that led to the attack.
