Litton Das has raised a new controversy over Bangladesh’s withdrawal from the T20 World Cup-2026 in India as he claimed security-related doubts discussed by cricket administrators were hard to process by the players as they had already winged the sport in Pakistan.
Expressing the players’ readiness to play in the tournament, the Bangladesh T20 skipper has stated that when he met senior and prominent officials of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), they have expressed their wish to play this tournament. That said, it was up to the board leadership to decide.
Litton said that players were given information that security in India was no good. He has replied that such was the case in Bangladesh when they toured Pakistan and the team accommodation was surrounded by armed guards.
“We have been playing in Pakistan also, they were standing outside the room with guns. What could be more hazardous? If we can play in Pakistan, why not India?” Litton said while speaking on the matter.
The controversy arose this year when the BCB rejected the International Cricket Council’s invitation to join the tournament after repeated assurances came from the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) and ICC on security issues.
So, Bangladesh had to take a pass at this event and replaced by Scotland national cricket team.
Litton wasn’t too far off the mark when speaking openly about the situation earlier. His latest remarks intimate a glimpse inside the player’s crease and hint that the fear of cricket administrators was borne out as the side wanted to create a showing.
