New Delhi: NTA has announced retests for students who failed to appear for the CUET-UG examination due to the technical glitches that disrupted Shift 1. Taking to its social media handle, the agency shared the update highlighting that some centres faced technical glitch that delayed the start of the examination.
In its statement, the agency said, “The technical service provider, TCS iON, has been asked to conduct a root-cause analysis and submit its report immediately.” NTA also acknowledged the inconvenience faced by students and said the disruption caused stress among candidates appearing for the undergraduate entrance examination.
The agency further clarified that the exam will be held as a’ one-time measure’ only for those affected by the glitches on Saturday. The revised examination date and other details will be announced soon on the official website it mentioned.
Meanwhile, TCS iON technical service provider for the CUET UG examination issued a statement regarding the incident. Taking to X, K Krithivasan, CEO and MD of TCS, said, “A brief technical issue caused a delay of around two hours in the CUET-UG examination in the morning shift today.”
A total of 73,106 candidates had completed biometric registration at their allotted examination centres when the issue first emerged. Morning session candidates were given the full duration of the paper and are allowed to exit only after completion of the test. As part of the revised schedule, candidates appearing in the afternoon session were allowed entry from 2:30 pm, while the examination began at 4 pm instead of the originally scheduled 3 pm.
Introduced in 2022, the Common University Entrance Test-Undergraduate, or CUET-UG, is a standardised, national-level entrance exam conducted by the NTA for admissions into undergraduate degree programmes across central, state, and select private universities.
Replacing multiple entrance tests, CUET-UG aims to provide a uniform assessment platform. It evaluates candidates on language skills, domain-specific subjects, and general aptitude, aligning with the National Education Policy 2020 to promote inclusivity and equal opportunities.
